SO FLY At-home Edition
How to connect games to real life. A SO FLY master collaborator and mentee challenged me to do this topic. Thanks for the inspo!
I hope you are well and staying safe. My prayers are up.
My idea behind this topic is, if you’re playing video games learn something from them. I picked a few games for us to play and learn from. Here are my thoughts… I hope you will read all the way through.
‘How To Play & Learn From’:
‘Mortal Kombat’
A Fight game-
Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter were my ultimate video games to play on my brothers’ Sega Genesis. I was a great fighter. I ‘finished’ my opponents. I was really good at these two games because I played them the most. And That’s Tip #1.
From [drpoplove YouTube]
If you want to be a good fighter…
“Learn basic combos of fighter moves so you can mix up the attack on your opponent, if you’re doing the same thing over and over again it’s not going to work” [at least not for long]. So a simple kick won’t do. Go full on attack. *High punch, *Elbow strike, then take your step to *Leg sweep ‘em onto their back.
Crush everything standing in the way of your inner champion.
Side note:
So, don’t simply go to school or work… Get there on time, daily. Take your mind with you and Really be present. Then put on some respect for your teachers and leaders. I promise you that doing these things will position you to be great. What you do in your real life should be no game.
Play and stay activated with every intention to reach your next level. Keep in mind that the next level will have a greater challenger than before. The bigger the opponent the better you become.
OH, Remember to use your *block! Use your block strategically. Don’t over do it.
The whole point of this game is to use ALL the moves you got. But blocking yourself from danger can be the best move and save you from a lot of damage. Throw up your guard. Protect your face. Try not to get hit dead in your eye. You really need your eye. Both eyes. So you can SEE clearly. And there’s nothing worse than being open to a surprise hit.
Another example of this block strategy ‘in life’ is to simply walk away from a fight. You do not have to fight every fight.
—I find Power in the game of MK.
‘Super Mario Bros’
-A classic basic-controls game and a throwback that has Levels of Levels—
It’s crazy that there are 4 levels and then 8 levels (kingdoms) within those levels.
I watched [iJustine YouTube]
This game is just fun to play but you gotta try not to throw the controller. A small misstep may end your current level and cause you to start over. Life.
All jokes aside. You probably couldn’t pay me to finish a game of Super Mario, now or then. I lack the patience and skill. Lmbo.
A round happens so fast and there are sooo many levels to it…As life.
Other Super Mario like-life qualities:
-Focus fast as you run and jump over the different obstacles.
-Avoid getting picked off the board by the enemies.
-Bang out the bricks to earn your way.
-Know the secret spots that will instantly advance you to next levels (a pass to skip over unnecessary obstacles).
-Connect to the star and gain your superpowers.
-Save someone else. (Remember that Super Mario’s mission was to rescue the princess.) Life has more value when your goal is to help someone else.
*Are you hearing the Super Mario melody in your head right now?
—Super Mario has Lessons that don’t age. This game has been around since like ‘83 and is still going strong now in 2020.
Let’s play one last game.
‘NBA 2K20’
A Sports game of basketball-
Cool clip from [3xclusive Entertainment YouTube]
3xclusive tells us, “Get control. Learn everything you can about the different plays of the game so you can have a deep bag to dig in when it’s time to play ball.” That’s Nice. That’s life.
Shooting the ball- it’s all about the jump shot timing release. Get the timing down to increase your chances of the shot. I like that tip- move when it’s time to move. Keep practicing your game until your rhythm to move is instinct or natural. Life & Levels.
Spins and gathers in 2K20- is about agility. Well that’s how I see it. Stretch those limbs before the game. Your body has to be fit, in tip-top-shape, if you want to turn on a dime, bend, and glide in the air like you’re flying for those dunks.
For success in real life you also have to commit to stretching yourself. Life & Levels.
Dribbling- I hear for this year’s 2K20 you can make your own sequences of dribbling. Who doesn’t like custom?! This is the chance to create the way you like. A gift in life. When building your own moves you still want it to look sharp and lead you to a winning play.
I can imagine you have to know or study the original ‘foundation’ (of dribbling) before you are able to recreate something new. Life & Levels.
Passing- Find your finesse with the different forms of pass and play. Study my buddy. And team work.
Life & Levels.
Free throws- I love 3xclusive’s comment… ”You only good at ‘em if you practice ‘em baby.” Release it at the right time and you golden, he added. I know free throws take practice, practice and more practice.
Defense- 3xclusive says, “Get your defense together, cuz defense wins games.” The way I see it – Your hustle can be so good that you throw the opposing team off their game. It’s good to be on top of your game. Now imagine being great because you recognize that you’re not the only one with game – and that, my friend, is your motivation.
—2K20 has a lot of parts to it that all require Precision.
What are your thoughts on these games?

Awww thanks Baby Boy Star. And LOL. Good games. Good fun. Even PLAY has a purpose.
The connecting life with games is cool. you make decisions in life like in a game. I like to play madden and I have to know the right play at the right time.
Indeed. I know Madden is a huge mental game too. #Timing for sure. Thank you for this!
TKO! Nice blog post. I would add to study your play as well as study the opponents. Be ready for what you know they will throw! In life you need to have all plans laid out plan A, plan B and so on
Thanks!! These are Great points to add. It’s really important to prepare ahead and have some extra tricks or moves up your sleeve.
This was a rlly touching blog and it’s good for the youth in this world to relate to since when you put it in grown up form most children can’t comprehend or they don’t bother to actually read it. This rlly touched my heart and will always be in my brain
Whoa. Thank you for this comment King. You don’t even know what your message means to me right now. You just made me better. You will be able to comprehend SO FLY from this day forward. Love it.
Special comment from king ? made me think about keeping things basic so even the youth could understand and replay it to other youth!
What he said is absolutely major.
Oh wow this is awesome! Reaching out to the youth of today to use their minds in a strategic and fulfilling way is so awesomely needed. Putting their minds and thoughts to use outside of the ignorance & violence young people have to confront in today’s world is awesome as well as critical. Articles like this are needed to challenge their brilliance they don’t even know exists within. This will help them dig deep within to pull out that which is within that may never come to fruition without a challenge or mind blogger such as this one. Instead of just playing these games as a pass time with a different mindset which you have challenged them with is a huge brainstorm. Keep up the good youth work. Trust me in this world today it’s totally critical. Thank God for your concern and love to inspire the youth to tap into their God given potential and also to grow in them themselves amongst their peers to become leaders that the world is so lacking in today concerning our youth. How can we keep ignoring them when they will one day be the next leaders of this world. God bless keep up the good youth work. May The good Lord continue to keep you and bless you with everything you need to pour into our lost youth of today physically and definitely spiritually. You’re in my prayers as you continue to move forward in your God given call. ??????☝?❤️?. God will supply who and everything you need in Jesus name. Amen
Amazing 2nd blog. I Love being reminded of ALL this. –Queen Torch
SO VERY VERY TRU. Amen.
Thanks for speaking to us here. And Bless you too.
This was very insightful and creative. Compare and contrast is an effective way to teach lifestyle and you did a great job drawing out innovative methods to guide the reader to an open-minded perspective.
I take this quote with me from this reading;
“Keep practicing your game until your rhythm to move is instinct or natural. Life & Levels. It’s relatable and practical on all levels of life. Spiritually, mentally, and physically.”
Bless you Queen. Life and Lessons
Thank you Kevin! That line you mentioned is a favorite of mine. Cool that you point it out. I’m working on this creativity thing. And I’m all for an open-minded perspective. Bless you too.
